Wedding photographer in Innsbruck

Innsbruck lets you have a city wedding and a mountain wedding on the same day. The ceremony can be at the registry office, in a baroque church such as Wilten Basilica or at a castle like Ambras, and twenty minutes later you can be standing at the Seegrube on the Nordkette, high above the rooftops, with the Inn valley and the peaks of the Stubai and Tux Alps behind you. Receptions range from old-town restaurants to hotels in the villages on the sunny plateau around Igls.

Mountain weather is the variable a local photographer plans around: clouds can sit on the Nordkette while the valley is clear, and the reverse. Tell us your date, ceremony location and whether you want portraits in town, up the mountain or both. We check who is free and send you a quote.

Location ideas in Innsbruck

  1. 01

    Nordkette by cable car

From the city centre the Hungerburg funicular and two cable car sections reach the Seegrube and Hafelekar. A dress and suit travel fine; allow time for the connections and check the operating times for your date.

  2. 02

    Colourful houses on the Inn

The painted façades of the Mariahilf district along the river, with the Nordkette above, are a short walk from the old town and the Golden Roof.

  3. 03

    Ambras Castle grounds

Renaissance castle, park and views across the valley on the edge of the city. Professional photography there is subject to the site’s rules, so it is agreed in advance.

  4. 04

    Patscherkofel and Igls

Innsbruck’s other house mountain, south of the city, offers wide meadows, larch forest and a softer evening light than the steep north side.

Good to know

  • Plan a weather alternative for mountain portraits — the old-town arcades work well in rain.
  • At around 2,000 metres it is noticeably colder: bring a jacket or shawl even in July.
  • If guests join you on the mountain, check group logistics for the cable car early.

Frequently asked questions

Can we get married on a mountain near Innsbruck?

A symbolic or free ceremony at a mountain hut or viewpoint is possible in many places. The legally binding civil ceremony happens through the registry office; whether it can be held at an outside location is decided by the office and checked when planning.

Is winter a good time for an Innsbruck wedding?

Snow on the Nordkette and a clear blue sky make striking photos. Days are short, so ceremony and portraits are planned for late morning or early afternoon.
