Photographers in the Zillertal
The Zillertal runs deep into the Tyrolean Alps, from the wide valley floor around Fügen and Zell am Ziller to Mayrhofen and the side valleys beyond. At its far end lie the Hintertux Glacier, skiable all year, and the Schlegeis reservoir, set among the peaks of the Zillertal Alps.
It is one of Austria’s best-loved holiday valleys, and many couples come here for weddings in traditional hotels and huts or for elopements at a high-alpine lake. Families on holiday book relaxed sessions in the meadows, and the valley’s chalets and apartments are often photographed for rentals.

When to go
From June to October the high-alpine roads, reservoirs and huts are open, the meadows are green and evenings are long. Autumn brings golden larches and clear air. Winter turns the valley into one of Austria’s largest ski regions, with snowy villages and the glacier ensuring snow from autumn to spring.

Frequently asked questions
Can we get married in the Zillertal mountains?
Yes, many hotels and mountain huts host weddings, and outdoor symbolic ceremonies are popular. Civil marriages are performed by the registry office; your photographer helps plan the day around the location and the light.
Can we take wedding photos on the Hintertux Glacier?
Yes, the glacier makes snowy photos possible year-round. Cable car operators set their own rules for professional shoots, which your photographer checks in advance, together with weather and timetables.
Is drone footage allowed in the Zillertal?
Drone flights in Austria are regulated, and some areas such as the Zillertal Alps nature park have additional restrictions. A licensed drone pilot checks what is permitted for your spots and date.
