The café where you met, a favourite walk, or the city you are travelling through. Familiar places make it easier to relax in front of the camera.

Pick outfits in colours that work together and suit the setting. Bring a second look if you want variety — most sessions allow a quick change.

Think about where the photos will go
If you need a horizontal image with space for text on a card, say so. The photographer can plan a few frames with that in mind.

How long does an engagement shoot take?

Usually one to two hours, enough for one or two locations without rushing. Exact length and price come with the photographer’s quote.

We are not comfortable being photographed. Is that a problem?

Most couples feel that way at first. Experienced photographers guide you with small prompts and movement instead of stiff poses, and the first few minutes are usually the only awkward part.

Can we do the shoot in winter?

Yes. Snowy streets, Christmas markets and clear winter light can make beautiful photos. Days are short, so the session is usually planned around midday or early afternoon.
