Wedding photographer in Linz
A wedding photographer in Linz is a photographer who documents your wedding day in the city, from getting ready through the ceremony and the congratulations to the couple portraits and the party, and delivers an edited gallery afterwards. Most civil weddings here take place in the Trauungssaal of the Neues Rathaus in Urfahr, on the north bank of the Danube. The city describes the hall as air-conditioned, with a free musical programme and parking in the underground garage, and for an extra fee couples can add access to the sun terrace or a photo with Linz Castle as the backdrop across the river. That terrace is where many group pictures happen straight after the ceremony.
Coverage is usually booked in blocks: two to three hours for the ceremony, the reception drinks and portraits, or eight to ten hours for a full day that ends with the first dance. A typical Linz plan crosses the Nibelungenbrücke after the ceremony for portraits along the old town lanes or up at the castle, then moves on to the reception venue. You receive a curated online gallery; the number of images and the delivery time are written into the quote, never a surprise. Tell us the date, the ceremony time and where you celebrate afterwards, and we check which photographers are free.

Location ideas in Linz
- 01
Sun terrace of the Neues Rathaus
Booked through the Standesamt as an add-on. Wide open above the Danube with the old town and the castle opposite, so the family group photo gets the city in the background.
- 02
Linz Castle and the Schlossberg
A short drive from the Rathaus, or a walk of about 20 minutes over the bridge. Terraces above the rooftops give couple portraits with the Danube bend behind you.
- 03
Hauptplatz and the old town lanes
Baroque façades, arcaded courtyards and the Trinity Column for relaxed walking shots between the ceremony and the reception.
Good to know
- The Standesamt Linz asks couples to book the eligibility check no earlier than six months and no later than two months before the wedding; plan the photographer after that date is fixed.
- The online calendar only holds the Trauungssaal provisionally; the date counts once your documents are checked in person, and the Standesamt allows a date change only once.
- Security checks at the Neues Rathaus can delay entry, so ask the photographer to arrive 20–30 minutes early to catch guests arriving.
- From May to August the sun sets between about 20.30 and 21.05 in Linz; a short portrait session around 19.30 gives warm, low light on the Schlossberg.

Frequently asked questions
Where do civil weddings take place in Linz?
The Standesamt Linz marries couples in the Trauungssaal of the Neues Rathaus, Hauptstraße 1–5, and at a list of partner venues such as Schloss Ebelsberg or the Pöstlingbergschlössl. External venues are arranged by phone or email with the Standesamt and booked directly with the venue.
How much of the day should a wedding photographer in Linz cover?
For a Rathaus ceremony with drinks afterwards, two to three hours is often enough. If you add a church wedding, a reception venue outside the city or an evening party, a full day of eight to ten hours means nobody watches the clock.
Can our wedding photographer in Linz also travel to the Mühlviertel or Salzkammergut?
Yes. Many couples marry at the Rathaus and celebrate in the countryside. Give us both addresses so travel time between the ceremony in Linz and the reception venue is planned into the wedding photographer’s schedule.
