Couple photoshoot in Salzburg

Salzburg is often photographed in a rush between Mirabell and Getreidegasse. A couple session can slow down and go further: along the Salzach as the evening light hits the old town, up the quiet lanes below the fortress, or out to a palace pond and a mountain meadow with the whole city below.

Tell us whether you prefer the old town, nature or a mix, and how much time you have. We find a photographer who knows Salzburg’s quieter corners and the best hour for each of them.

Location ideas in Salzburg

  1. 01

    Salzach riverbanks at sunset

From the right bank, the old town and fortress glow in the evening sun. The riverside paths are wide, so you have room to walk and talk naturally.

  2. 02

    Up to Nonnberg Abbey

Steep stairways and cobbled lanes below the fortress lead to the Benedictine abbey. Romantic, sheltered and much calmer than the main squares.

  3. 03

    Leopoldskron pond

The palace itself is private, but the public path along the pond gives a lovely view across the water — especially in the soft evening light.

  4. 04

    Gaisberg at golden hour

Open meadows on Salzburg’s home mountain with views over the city and towards the lakes. Reachable by car or bus, perfect for a sunset finish.

Good to know

  • The old town is sunlit in the evening when seen from the right bank — plan the river part last.
  • Salzburg gets plenty of rain; bring an umbrella that suits your look, it can make great photos.
  • Combining the old town and Gaisberg works well in a longer session; allow time for the drive.

Frequently asked questions

Can we include our dog in the session?

Usually yes, especially at Gaisberg and along the river. Mention it so the photographer chooses dog-friendly spots.

Is a couple shoot in Salzburg nice in winter?

Very — snow on the fortress and Advent lights in the old town are magical. Plan for the early afternoon, as it gets dark early.
